How to review your policy before renewal: a checklist
Renewal is the natural time to ask questions. Starting 30 to 45 days ahead leaves room to understand changes and compare options without any gap in coverage.

1. Pull your declarations pages
Find the current declarations page for each auto and home policy. It lists coverages, limits, deductibles, drivers, vehicles and endorsements.
2. Auto checklist
- Liability limits vs. the state minimum
- UM/UIM limits and stacking
- Tort option
- Collision and comprehensive deductibles
- All household drivers listed, including teens
3. Home checklist
- Dwelling limit vs. estimated rebuild cost
- Replacement cost or ACV
- Water backup endorsement and flood
- Special limits on valuables
- Deductibles, including any wind or percentage deductibles
4. Note life changes
A renovation, new driver, home business, new car or paid-off mortgage can all change what you need.
